Indiana Player Quotes
Senior Guard Lewis Monroe
On coming back from a 17-point deficit:
LM: "It's hard to say if we could have done that last year, but we toughed it out tonight. Coach Davis gave us a pretty good motivational speech and told us to take it right at them. They were bringing it to us on our home court and we needed to respond."
On Ohio State's defensive strategy against him:
LM: "They were really playing off me and daring me to shoot. You don't want to get to the point where you are just jacking up shots because you are open and throw off the offense. I wanted to be patient and take my shots when I could."
Senior Guard Marshall Strickland
On fouling out Ohio State center Terence Dials at the end of the game:
MS: "We were actually trying to get Marco open on that last play. Dials was coming through the paint and it was my job to get Marco open so he could get the ball. In the process I got a good piece of Dials and he went right through me. Regardless of the situation we were going at Dials because he had four fouls."
On hitting the two free throws to win the game:
MS: "I have been hitting them pretty well so far this season, but it has been a while since I have hit two that were that big. Just to come in this situation and hit them feels real good."
On the team's slow start:
MS: "We weren't as aggressive as we should have been. We were all just passing the ball around waiting for something to happen, waiting for someone else to make a play."
Senior Forward Marco Killingsworth
On Strickland coming up big at the end of the game:
MK: "Marshall always comes up big when we need him to. Every little thing we can do to win at the end of the game we do. Marshall really stepped up and knocked down those free throws at the end of the game."
On coming back from a big first-half deficit:
MK: "I tried to get the guys pumped up and told them we have to get out there and play. We didn't come ready to play to start the game tonight. If you aren't ready to play, then don't step out on the court. We stepped up and responded and did what we had to do to win."
