Senior Errek Suhr received eight awards at men's basketball's inaugural awards banquet.

Hoosiers Host Inaugural Awards Banquet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's basketball team held its first annual awards banquet under head coach Kelvin Sampson Monday evening. Sampson and his staff handed out 14 awards and honored the team at Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union.

Hoosier radio play-by-play broadcaster Don Fischer served as emcee of the event and former Hoosier Wayne Radford (1975-78) presented Earl Calloway, Errek Suhr and Roderick Wilmont with their senior rings.

Suhr led all Hoosiers, bringing home eight honors. Wilmont secured five awards, while Calloway and junior D.J. White claimed three awards each. White and Wilmont shared the Outstanding Player Award. Former Hoosier great Landon Turner was also in attendance and was honored by the team.

Indiana clinched sole possession of third place in the Big Ten and the third seed in the conference tournament with its 94-63 victory over Penn State on Saturday. The Hoosiers head to Chicago to face the winner of the Illinois-Penn State game on Friday, March 9. The game will be televised on ESPN Plus with a 9:10 p.m. EST tip.
