BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana sophomore kicker Austin Starr was one of three kickers named a Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Star of the Week. Starr joined Mario Danelo of Southern California and Michael Torres of Central Florida.
On the final play of the game at Illinois (Oct. 7), Starr drilled a 33-yard field goal to give Indiana a 34-32 victory. He also added a 23-yarder at the end of the third quarter and hit four extra points in as many attempts as the Hoosiers rallied from a 25-7 deficit to even their overall record at 3-3 and Big Ten mark at 1-1.
The kick marked Starr's second game-winner of the season, although the first was not as dramatic. Starr connected on a 35-yarder with 11:01 remaining to down Ball State, 24-23, on Sept. 9. Starr is 6-of-8 on the season, including 2-of-3 from 30-39 yards, and has added nine touchbacks handling kickoffs.
