Box Score

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - An early first-half goal from Indiana (7-4-1) was not enough as Louisville (7-4-1) posted two unanswered goals, including the game winner in overtime for a 2-1 victory Wednesday night at Cardinal Park.

Indiana jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on a goal from Eric Alexander at 3:02. Daniel Kelly set up the score, dribbling the ball to just outside the penalty area. He dished off to Alexander who made his run from the left side before putting the ball home.

The goal was Alexander's fourth of the season, tying him with Kevin Noschang for the team lead.

Billy Weaver had an easy opportunity to make it 2-0 at 5:37 when Louisville `keeper David Simolike was caught out of position, but Weaver sent his slow roller just wide.

Senior Chris Munroe took over for Chay Cain in goal at 25:18. Minutes earlier Cain had been knocked down with play stopped while he was tended to. He remained in the game but pulled himself out a few minutes later.

Louisville nearly had the equalizer at 29:46 when a lazy pass back from Alexander was intercepted by Frank Joke. Jonke had the angle on a shot toward the upper right but it sailed just wide. The Hoosiers lucked out on another Louisville shot when Aaron Clapham's attempt went off the cross bar and bounced down and back out into the field of play.

The Hoosiers trailed 7-2 in shot attempts in the first half but had four corner kicks to the Cardinals' two. Munroe had two saves with one credited to Cain.

Indiana faced constant pressure from the Louisville attack, including a direct free kick from Clapham early in the second half that had enough velocity but went wide right.

Brad Ring had a shot in the 65th minute which required a diving save from Simolike. That was just the second on-goal look in the game from the Hoosiers.

The pressure paid off for the Cardinals with the equalizer in the 84th minute as John Jonke scored to make it 1-1.

The game winner came just 2:33 into overtime as Clapham won a scramble in front of the net to get the ball past Munroe.

Sophomore Darren Yeagle got the start in front of the hometown crowd but had a scare when he tweaked the same knee which suffered an ACL tear back in the spring. His status is day-to-day.

The Hoosiers continue their road swing on Sunday as they travel to No. 6 Northwestern for a Big Ten showdown. Match time is 2 p.m. CT at Lakeside Soccer Field.
