BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University men's tennis team defeated #30 North Carolina State, 4-3, down in Raleigh, N.C. on Sunday. #56 Indiana improved to 9-2 on the season with the win.
The day began with the Wolfpack taking two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Indiana's Peter Antons and Santiago Gruter teamed up for an 8-5 victory in the No. 3 doubles match.
NC State then jumped ahead 2-0 with a win in the No. 1 singles slot. That's where it ended for the Wolfpack, however, as the Hoosiers seized the next four singles contests. Lachlan Ferguson, Dara McLoughlin and Santiago Gruter each won in straight sets while Michael McCarthy clinched the team win with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 over Christian Welte. A win by North Carolina State in the second singles match created the 4-3 final score.
The Cream and Crimson continue their month-long competition away from the IU Tennis Complex when they travel south to take on Southern Methodist on Mar. 10 and Texas A&M on Mar. 12.
