Personal Playing Experience USA Field Hockey Coaching Experience Kelly Doton was recruited to Wake Forest by Indiana head coach Amy Robertson and played in Winston-Salem from 2000-03 and is in her fourth year at Indiana after being promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach. Doton was instrumental in the Hoosiers reaching the 2009 NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history after finishing second in league standings and reaching the Big Ten Tournament title game. The Greenfield, Mass., native had a very successful collegiate career at Wake Forest where she was the 2003 Honda Award winner as the National Field Hockey Player of the Year. She helped lead the Demon Deacons to back-to-back NCAA championships and was the 2002 ACC Player of the Year. She was a two-time NFHCA First Team All-American and a three-time All-ACC honoree. Doton was a midfielder for U.S. Field Hockey and played with former Hoosier Kayla Bashore on the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team in Beijing. She has played on the National Team since 2005, where she began her career on the New Zealand tour. She scored her first international goal against Australia in 2005. She works with IU's backs and on penalty corners, both offensively and defensively. Doton graduated from Wake Forest in 2004 with a degree in communications. |
