WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 18 Indiana field hockey team fell on the road, 5-2, at No. 3 Wake Forest on Sunday, Sept. 13. Sophomore Corey Brautigam and junior Lena Grote scored the Hoosiers (4-2) two goals on the day.

The Demon Deacons (5-1) didn't waste any time as Raisa Schiller put them on the board 9:35 into the game as she converted the goal off a penalty corner. WFU scored again at the 17:07 mark on a goal from Kaitlin Piosa as she scored on a high shot into the corner of the cage to give the home team the 2-0 edge. At the 18:15 mark, junior Kelsey Kiper took a shot on goal, but it was saved by Kaitlyn Ruhf. However, Brautigam was able to score off the rebound from the save to put the Hoosiers on the board and cut Wake's lead in half, 2-1, with 18:17 on the clock. Less than a minute later, Grote knotted the score at 2-2, as she scored on a breakaway from senior Alina Valenti that was sent across from the center of the circle. However, the Demon Deacons answered with a goal from Melissa Martin at the 20:29 mark to regain a 3-2 advantage. Wake held on to that momentum and scored again, this time with 29:15 on the clock to increase its lead to 4-2 at the break.

Wake Forest sealed the win late in the second half as Kim Romansky netted a goal with 52:20 off a penalty corner for the 5-2 win.

Brautigam and Grote each scored their first goals of the season on one shot apiece, while Kiper tallied one shot on goal. Valenti recorded the Hoosiers' only assist and junior goalkeeper Alex Mann collected eight saves in 70:00 minutes.

The Demon Deacons outshot the Hoosiers, 16-3.
