BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's swimming and diving team picked up a pair of individual victories on Saturday in the third and final session of a double dual meet with Texas and Michigan. In the end, though, the Hoosiers fell short with a 190-180 loss to Texas and 207-163 loss to Michigan at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center.
Freshman Amanda Smith kicked things off with a third-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle, posting a time of 16:53.45. Cassie Luhrsen also finished in the points with a seventh-place showing (17:21.49).
The 200 backstroke was next and the Hoosiers picked up their first individual win of the day as sophomore Presley Bard took home the title with an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:59.58. Teammate Ashley Jones was sixth (2:05.10) and Kristin Cihoski ninth (2:06.49).
With the sprinters in the pool for the 100 freestyle, Donna Smailis led the way for IU by touching the wall seventh (52.73). In the 200 breaststroke it was Sarah Stockwell who led a 4-5-6 finish for the Hoosiers. Stockwell was in with a time of 2:19.54, followed by Abby Cooper (2:20.29) and Amilee Smith (2:21.01).
Indiana's second victory of the afternoon came in the 200-yard butterfly as Brittany Barwegen led the field with a time of 2:00.33. Allison Kay was also a top-five finisher, sneaking in with a mark of 2:05.36.

Over in the diving well, Indiana boasted two of the top four finishers in the platform with Brittney Feldman placing third (194.80) and Jade Summerlin fourth (185.25).
The Hoosiers are back in action Nov. 15-17 as they play host to the Hoosierland Open at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center in Bloomington.
