BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's swimming and diving team opened competition Thursday at the three-day Hoosierland Open being held at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center on the IU campus.
"It was kind of an up-and-down day for us," said head coach Ray Looze. "We have been ravaged by illness and are a bit tired, but we had some nice breakthroughs. We gave out two new red caps and that is a real good sign. We just need to get on a more comprehensive roll and this is a good level of competition to do that. We plan to come out swinging tomorrow."
The evening finals session began with the women's 200-yard freestyle relay where the team of Presley Bard, Donna Smailis, Brittany Epperson and Kristin Cihoski finished seventh with a time of 1:36.54.
