SETTING THE SCENE
• Coming off a winter training trip, the Hoosiers jump back into collegiate action by playing host to No. 12 Tennessee, No. 18 Michigan and Illinois in a two-day meet at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
• Indiana has already faced Michigan once this year, posting a 232-157 win over the Wolverines in Ann Arbor in November.
• The meet will take place in three sessions over the course of the two days. The schedule is as follows:

NEWS AND NOTES
• While it has been well over a month since Indiana's last collegiate event, the Hoosiers made quite a splash at their own Hoosierland Invite, Nov. 21-23 at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
• Freshman Nikki White made a national splash with an A cut time of 4:36.61 in the 500 freestyle. In addition to being a school record, it is currently the ninth-fastest time ever by an American.
• Not finished yet, White set a school record in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.28 and also added IU's 1,650-yard freestyle record to her list with a time of 16:07.39.
• Senior Sarah Stockwell bettered the school mark in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.54, while teammate Abby Cooper recorded a new record in the 200 breast (2:13.98).
• Not to be outdone, Brittany Barwegen put up a new record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:56.22 to finish first and better her NCAA B cut.
• In all a total of six school record and 20 NCAA B cuts were achieved at the early-season meet.
• Several swimmers also competed at the U.S. Short Course Nationals in December, led by White's fourth-place finish in the 500 freestyle.
• White also took eighth in the B final of the 200 free and fifth in the 1,650 free.
• Sophomore Amanda Smith was second in the 1,650 freestyle with an NCAA B time of 16:11.33, and placed sixth in the 200 fly (1:58.16-NCAA B).
Donna Smailis was second in the B final of the 100 butterfly (54.24), while Brittany Barwegen was fifth (54.89). Barwegen also took eighth in the 200 fly (1:58.55).
• In a victory over Northwestern on Oct. 24, Indiana won 10 events, led by junior Kate Zubkova who took home wins in the 100 back, 200 back, 100 butterfly and 400 medley relay.
• Sophomore Brittany Barwegen recorded an NCAA B cut in the 200 butterfly, touching first with a time of 1:59.11.
• Junior Brittney Feldman was a double winner in diving, taking the one-meter and three-meter springboard titles.
• Indiana opened the year in dominating fashion by winning all but one event against Kentucky on Oct. 18.
• White has an impressive debut, taking first in the 200 free, 500 free and 400 freestyle relay.
• Sophomore Christina Kouklakis won her first-ever collegiate event, taking first in the three-meter springboard against the Wildcats.
• The Hoosiers look to carry the momentum of last year's 10th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
• IU totaled 128 points, the second-most points scored at the NCAA meet in school history, just off the record of 136 in 2002.
• Indiana returns seven All-Americans in junior Presley Bard, junior Brittney Feldman, senior Christina Loukas, junior Donna Smailis, sophomore Amanda Smith, senior Sarah Stockwell and junior Kate Zubkova.
• The Hoosiers also have eight All-Big Ten selections back in the fold in Bard, Feldman, Kay, Loukas, Smailis, Smith, Stockwell and Zubkova.
• Last season new school records were set in the:

• On the diving side, Indiana returns the Big Ten champion in the one-meter and three-meter springboard in junior Brittney Feldman.
• Also back on the boards for IU this season is senior Christina Loukas. An eight-time All-American for IU, Loukas redshirted the 2007-08 season to focus on the Olympics.

DID YOU KNOW?
•  Five of the top six times in school history in the 1,650 freestyle have been recorded this season.
• In addition, the top seven times in school history in the 500 free were recorded in 2008, with the top three times coming this season.

WHITE NAMED BIG TEN SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
•  Freshman Nikki White earned her first Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honor on Nov. 25 after her performance at the Hoosierland Invite.
• White made herself a contender on the national scene with a time of 4:36.61 to finish first in the 500 freestyle at the Hoosierland Invitational. That time is a Big Ten, school and Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center record.
• White's assault on the record book continued over the weekend as she established new school marks in the 200 freestyle (1:46.28) and the 1,650 freestyle (16:07.39), placing first in both events at the meet. With her time in the 500 free, White has already punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships in March.

LOUKAS DOUBLES UP ON BIG TEN HONORS
•  Senior Christina Loukas has been named the Big Ten Diver of the Week twice this season, earning the honor on Nov. 25 and Dec. 9.
• Loukas' first honor came as a result of her performance at the Hoosierland Invite. She was victorious in the three-meter springboard, tallying 357.55 points in the final round to take the title by 54.55 points over second-place finisher Brittney Feldman. Loukas was second to Feldman in the one-meter with a final round score of 298.70, but posted the highest score of the day in the semifinals with a 323.35.
• The second recognition came after a record-setting performance at the Ohio State Invitational in December.
• On the three-meter springboard, Loukas took home the title with a score of 363.90 in the finals. She finished third on the one meter with a score of 310.10 in the final, but it was her mark of 375.70 in the prelims that turned heads as she set a new McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion record.

HOOSIERS IN THE POLLS
• Indiana is ranked No. 11 in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America Dual Meet Rankings, released Dec. 5.
• Indiana was No. 8 in the preseason poll,  ninth in the poll released on Oct. 31, and 10th in the Nov. 14 poll..
• Minnesota leads the Big Ten at No. 10, followed by the Hoosiers, No. 15 Penn State, No. 17 Wisconsin, No. 19 Michigan, and No. 21 Northwestern.
