BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Head diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber and the Indiana diving team announced the signing of Amy Korthauer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) for the 2006-07 academic year.
"I had a chance to work with Amy last summer at my camp, and she is a dream to coach," Huber said. "She has a great deal of talent, and her future potential is unlimited. She is an awesome addition to our team, and we are lucky to get her. I look forward to working with her in the future and helping her reach her greatest potential."
Korthauer comes to IU from the same club team (Windy City) that produced reigning Big Ten Diver of the Year and Championships Christina Loukas. During her prep career, she earned the 2005 Illinois Association three-meter title and finished 16th on the platform at the 2005 AAU National Championships. She also qualified for the one-meter and three-meter events at the AAU meet. A four-year letterwinner in diving and three-time letterwinner in gymnastics, Korthauer led her swimming and diving team to the 2004 state title. Additionally, she qualified for state from 2002-04 in diving and gymnastics. In 2003, she placed second on bars and took fourth on floor in 2004.
"I chose Indiana to be a member of one of the best diving teams in the country and to train under Coach Huber," Korthauer said.
Away from the pool, the daughter of Janet and Donald Korthauer excels in the classroom. She serves as a student ambassador and member of the athletic advisory board. She also helps with the J Kyle Braid Leadership Alumni group.
