Women's Tennis Heads to Vanderbilt This Weekend

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's tennis team is set to compete this weekend in the 2007 June Stewart Invitational, hosted by Vanderbilt University. Action will be begin each day at 10 a.m. ET with two rounds of doubles in the morning, followed by one round of singles in the afternoon.
Other schools participating are: Arizona State, Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, Tennessee-Martin and Vanderbilt.

While nine Hoosiers will compete individually in the singles draws, there will also be four IU doubles teams in the invitational. The doubles teams include: Alba Berdala and Lindsey Stuckey, Sigrid Fischer and Myriam Sopel, Maria Guerreiro and Brianna Williams, as well as Stephanie Heller and Charlotte Martin.

Indiana excelled in their first two tournaments of the fall season with seven different players winning a singles flight. Berdala, Fischer and Heller took home singles draw crowns at the Hoosier Classic while Clark, Guerreiro, Martin and Williams pulled off that feat at the Deacon Classic. In addition, Williams teamed with Kate Zapadalova to win their doubles flight at Wake Forest. They were not the only IU doubles team to win all four matches and seize a flight championships, however, Clark and Guerreiro won the other doubles flight.
