PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 18 Indiana women's water polo team had a tough go on Sunday, after falling to No. 6 San Diego State, the Bucknell Bison logged an 11-10 win over the Hoosiers to conclude play at the Princeton Invitational.
The game was tied 3-3 through eight minutes of play and Bucknell jumped out to a 7-4 lead at the intermission, only to see IU (5-7) square things at 8-8 with four goals in the third.
That set up an exciting fourth period, where Bucknell got three goals to the Hoosiers' two to come out on top.
For Indiana, Brooke Zimmerman once again led the way with a hat trick while Maggie Hannon continued her strong play over the weekend with two more goals. Nicole Sands, Kelsey Campbell, Kelly Palmberg and Brittany Estrada each added a goal apiece to the IU cause but it was not enough.
Indiana returns to action on March 1 at the Elite Six tournament in College Park, Md. against Brown University at 9 a.m.
