Zimmerman Becomes Third Hoosier To Be Named Western Division Player of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's Brooke Zimmerman, a senior on the women's water polo team, was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Western Division Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, March 24.

The senior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada scored two goals in the No. 15 Hoosiers' 4-3 loss to No. 16 Hartwick at home this past Saturday. With that pair of goals, Zimmerman now has 49 this season 178 in her career, putting her third on the career list at Indiana. This also marks the fourth time Zimmerman has received the award in her IU career, having done so twice last year (March 26 and April 30) and once in 2006 (Feb. 23).

She also becomes the third Hoosier to win the award this season, as freshman Lauren Wyckoff was honored Feb. 11 and freshman Nicole Redder won the award March 4.

Indiana will play its final home games of the season this weekend at the Councilman Billingsley Aquatic Center as part of the Fluid Five. Saturday the Hoosiers will take on Wagner at 7 p.m. with Senior Night festivities taking place before the start of the game. Sunday will see the Hoosiers take on No. 17 Santa Clara at 1 p.m. in the final home game of the season for Indiana.
